Jamal was handed an opportunity in March 2024 when he agreed professional terms with the club.

He signed a two-and-a-half year deal until June 2026, but rarely featured during the 23/24 campaign after suffering a bilateral meniscus and ACL injury during a PL2 game v Sunderland in August 2023.

Mohammed arrived at The Hawthorns with plenty of promise after signing from Peterborough as a 15-year-old following two years in Cambridgeshire. Born in Camden, London, the centre-half - who stands at a towering 6ft 5in - grew up playing football in his home town and Islington before moving to Finchley.

Jamal's footballing education and game understanding have come on in leaps and bounds since his move to B71, with the academy hierarchy confident in the defender's capabilities and potential in the years to come.

Mohammed has the physical attributes to fulfil the hope in him at The Hawthorns - something he showed in abundance halfway through the 24/25 season.

Following 488 days without kicking a competitive ball, Jamal returned to Albion's PL2 side against Liverpool in January 2025 and really showed off his fitness after such a long period on the sidelines - playing regularly until the end of the campaign and catching the eye with his calmness on the ball, progressive passing and focused defending.

These aspects were noticed by Albion's first team that season, too, with Mohammed featuring on the bench in Sky Bet Championship fixtures against Burnley and Hull City in March 2025. More days like those will be the next key target for Jamal, who will be determined to break into the senior fold at The Hawthorns.
