Krystian Bielik | The first WBA TV interview

Krystian Bielik is interviewed by WBA TV

Krystian Bielik revealed there’s a “fire” and a “hunger” inside to show Albion supporters the best version of himself during his first WBA TV interview.

The Poland international signed a three-year contract on Thursday, joining from Midlands rivals Birmingham City.

Bielik was a firm favourite among the fans at his previous team as a result of his quality on the ball, commitment to the cause no matter how big or small and leadership traits.

Krystian insists it was a “no-brainer” to join up with Ryan Mason’s squad once he heard of Albion’s interest and has guaranteed the Baggies faithful he'll “work his socks off” every day for the club.

The new man said: “When I found out West Bromwich Albion were interested in me I was happy. There was another team interested too and we were in the middle of talking about terms.

“When I found out about Albion, it was a no-brainer for me. It’s a massive club and when I found out I could play for this team I was really happy.

“I honestly can’t wait. I hope we can be very successful this season. I think I can be a great addition to this team. I can tell you I will do my best for the team.

“I think Albion is a club which always has big ambitions to fight for a place in the top six of the Championship.

“To be honest, every time I have played against Albion, they were always a team who you weren’t scared of, but you respected a lot. You always knew it would be a hard game.

“When I found out about Albion’s interest, I knew it was the club I wanted to continue my football career at. I feel like I can be an important player for the team.

“I’d like to think I’m coming into the prime of my career. People say that when you hit 27 or 28 it’s that age where you are on top of your physicality and form. I would like to believe that.

“The most important thing is that I have that fire inside me and I have that hunger that I want to get better and better and be the best version of myself. I want to work my socks off for Albion and I want to do my best. I can guarantee I will do that every day.”

Bielik is well-known for being extremely comfortable in the middle of the back line and further forward in midfield.

The 27-year-old says he doesn’t have a preference, insisting his only desire is to help the team in any way possible.

He added: “I think I can play well in both positions – centre midfield and centre back.

“I think it depends on the manager. There have been managers who have seen me as a centre midfielder and they believe I can give the team a bit more as a number six. There are also managers who have believed I’m a much better player when I’m playing from the back and I can see everything in front of me and I can dictate the tempo as a centre back.

“I honestly enjoy doing both and I can do both. That’s the flexibility I can give the team and the manager. I can’t tell you exactly what position I prefer, but I have played as a centre back for the last year and-a-half and I really enjoyed that.

“I think for this team and for this manager I’ll be seen mainly as a centre back, but we will see.”
